Unstructured Play, Full Gear Required

This is one hour of free play, uninstructed. Think pond hockey at the rink!

Unstructured play can help hockey players develop skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making:
Creativity:

  • Unstructured play allows players to explore possibilities and create from scratch. It can help develop the creativity that's seen in some of the NHL's top players.
  • Problem-solving: Unstructured play can help players learn to think on their feet and approach problems from an outside-the-box perspective.
  • Decision-making: Unstructured play allows players to learn how to make decisions.
  • Stick-handling: Unstructured play can help players develop their stick-handling skills.

Unstructured play is open-ended and doesn't have specific learning objectives or directions. It's free improvisation that allows players to explore, try new things and use many movement patterns.
